Before Your Ride
✓ Do I need experience to ride an e-bike?
No — but riders should be comfortable riding a traditional bicycle before renting an e-bike. While e-bikes provide motor assistance, they are heavier and faster than standard bikes and require good balance, braking, and steering control.
We’ll review bike operation with you before you head out, and most confident cyclists feel comfortable quickly.
✓ What should I bring with me?
✓ Comfortable, secure-fitting clothes
✓ Closed-toe shoes
✓ Sunscreen & water
✓ Sunglasses
✓ Bug spray
We recommend avoiding loose or flowing clothing, as it can catch in pedals or wheels for both riders and passengers.
Helmets, a waterproof travel bag, and a lock are included with your rental to make stopping along the trail or in town easy.
✓ How old do I need to be to rent an e-bike?
Riders must be at least 16 years old to rent an e-bike. Riders under 18 must have a legal guardian sign a waiver.
✓ Can we ride directly from the shop to the trail?
Yes, Tioga Wilds is in very close proximity to the Pine Creek Rail Trail, so there’s no need to transport bikes.
✓ What happens if it rains?
We remain open rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
In the event of severe conditions, we may contact you to reschedule for a safer time.
✓ Can I ride with a child or pet?
Yes, we offer child seats, pet trailers, and passenger package options so everyone can enjoy the ride.
Just let us know, and we’ll help you choose the best setup for your group.
During Your Ride
✓ How far can I go on an e-bike?
How far you can ride depends on your route, terrain, and how much you use the motor. Most riders comfortably enjoy a few hours on the trail using a single battery.
If you’re planning a longer ride, a full-day rental and an extra battery can give you more time, more range, and a more comfortable return.
✓ What happens if my battery dies during my ride?
E-bikes remain fully rideable even if the battery is depleted, though pedaling will require more effort. A battery gauge on each bike allows riders to monitor charge levels throughout their ride.
If you’re planning a longer distance, adding an extra battery is a great way to extend your range and ride with more peace of mind.
In the event that battery assistance is needed on the trail, support may be available for a $85 service fee depending on location and staff availability.
✓ Can I stop in town or leave the trail?
Yes. Some riders head north into Wellsboro, where you can lock your bike and explore town on foot before continuing your ride.
There are also bike racks available at select points along the trail when traveling south. One popular stop is the Turkey Path, a well-known waterfall hike, where riders can lock their bikes and enjoy the trail on foot.
✓ Is it mandatory to wear a helmet?
Helmets are required for all minors riding or operating an e-bike.
Helmets are strongly recommended for adult riders. Adults may choose not to wear a helmet by acknowledging and waiving helmet use in the rental waiver.
Helmets are included with every rental.
✓ Does pedaling charge the battery?
No. Pedaling does not charge the battery. E-bike batteries must be connected to a power outlet in order to recharge.
Pedaling helps extend how long the battery lasts, but it does not generate or restore power.
✓ What time should I arrive for my reservation?
Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to allow time for check-in and bike orientation. Late arrivals may shorten your ride time, especially during busy periods.
✓ Can we load the e-bikes into our vehicle?
No. For safety and liability reasons, e-bikes must remain on site and cannot be transported in personal vehicles.
The good news is that Tioga Wilds is conveniently located with direct access to the Pine Creek Rail Trail and close proximity to the PA Grand Canyon and Colton Point State Park—so there’s no need to transport bikes to enjoy a great ride.
✓ Do you repair e-bikes?
At this time, Tioga Wilds does not offer e-bike repair services.
However, we’re actively tracking repair requests to better understand local demand and explore the possibility of adding repair services in the future. If you’re looking for repairs, you’re welcome to let us know what you need.
✓ What happens if I accidentally damage the bike or equipment?
Renters are responsible for damage beyond normal wear and tear, as outlined in the rental waiver. We’ll walk you through proper bike use before your ride to help prevent issues. If damage is identified after your rental, we’ll document it and reach out with an itemized invoice within 3 business days.
For full details, please see our Bookings & Policies page.
✓ What forms of payment do you accept?
E-bike rentals require a credit card. Debit cards are not accepted for e-bike rentals.
Debit cards may be used for in-store purchases.
✓ Will there be a credit card authorization hold?
Yes. A temporary authorization hold will be placed on a credit card for e-bike rentals. This is not a charge and will be released after the bike and equipment are returned in good condition.
Authorization holds help cover the value of the equipment during your rental.
For details on damage assessments, charges, and authorization policies, please see our Booking & Policies page.
✓ Do I receive a refund if I return my bike early?
No. Rentals are priced by the reserved rental period, not by how long the bike is used.
To help you choose the right rental length, we encourage reviewing our Plan Your Ride page before booking.
✓ What happens if I return the bike late?
Bikes must be returned by the end of the reserved rental period. Late returns may impact other riders and may result in additional fees.
