Ansonia Access Area to Cavanaugh Access Area
Almost exactly halfway between the Buttle Rd access and the Ansonia access, is the Cavanaugh Access Area. This area’s ecological features include extensive wetlands along Marsh Creek, fed by Canada Run. There is a gravel parking area, a picnic table, and a walking path created along the edge of the wetland leading to Marsh Creek. The best way to observe birds in the Cavanaugh Area is to follow the nature trail and watch for them moving between the fields, along the edge of the wetland, or in the hedgerow.
Ansonia Access Area to Butler Rd Access Area
This 3.8 mile section of the Pine Creek Rail Trail, at times, travels along March Creek and through a wide valley of diverse wetland. This section of the rail trail is great place to observe waterfowl and the local Audubon Society reports sightings of over 150 different bird species.
Pag-Omar Farms is located at the Butler Rd access area and is one of the area’s most popular farmer’s markets, . This market is a well-known local delicatessen that offers a wide variety of deli meats and cheeses, fabulous made-to-order subs, along with homemade salads and soups. In addition to the deli, they scoop-up a variety of tasty Hershey’s ice cream all year long.
