At the Ansonia Access Area, you will discover two parallel trails designed for specific activities. Use the upper left-hand stone trail for biking. The lower right-hand trail is dedicated entirely to horseback riding. When riding, it is best to avoid the elevation change between the trails. To pass another rider, do so in a single-file line, staying on the designated upper left-hand trail. Adhering to these guidelines help to contribute to a safe experience and together we can keep these trails enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Keep your eyes peeled for magnificent eagles in this area! The row of pines across the creek is a prime spot to watch these incredible birds. Don’t miss the chance to witness these stunning creatures in action!

Darling Run

The upcoming 3.6-mile stretch of the rail trail is just a sneak peak of what is to come!

The Darling Run access area offers restrooms, public parking, picnic tables, bike racks, and an electric vehicle charging station. It’s also the last place with cell coverage if you head south. Be mindful that there are no food or reliable water sources for the next 16 miles, so prepare accordingly!

Just 3.3 miles south of Darling Run, you’ll discover a convenient comfort station where you can view the spectators at the Colton Point overlook. To find the spectator overlook, stand next to the comfort station and face north. Look up for the striking rock outcrop high on the mountain.

The Turkey Path

As you approach the double bridges, you’ve arrived at the Leonard Harrison Turkey Path. The rail trail connects seamlessly to the Turkey Path and takes you from the depths of the canyon to the stunning overlooks at Leonard Harrison State Park. The Turkey Path is known for its impressive waterfalls that are found mostly along Little Four Mile Run.
